She had like 20 gazillion opportunities to tell him what’s going on and ask for his help and protection. How I could have given this 5 stars. The story-line was interesting and different, but the execution of it did not come together to make the book as engaging as it could have been. Balogh’s one was more touching, more sophisticated and more romantic. He had a bad relationship with both his father and his brother but now he is the head of the family and must take on his new responsibilities. She has written more than one hundred historical novels and novellas, more than thirty of which have been New York Times bestsellers.

Near financial ruin rarely came overnight. I’ve never read a hero quite like Luke. I loved that about him. Her prior situation keeps threatening to destroy her marriage, and she is counting down the time until it does. Though, it was not an easy read, it includes some suspense with a serious issue and it built tension and made story more excited for me.

In this case I felt that the particular villain was too villain-y. Not for me anyway. This is a book that could be reread many times and I doubt it would get old. They are raised for it. Why two stars then? Lady Sterne and Theo, the middle-aged lovers who scheme to successfully bring Anna and Luke together. I found Anna’s past and the stalker story line too disturbing. Probably the worst heroine. Despite their bad start Lucas and Anna seem to be on their way to a good relationship, we see them slowly falling in love with each other even if they don’t immediately realise it.

There were multiple villains in this story, which I think was a disservice because none of the story lines were heagtless defined as they could have been. She started to get on my nerves fairly early on, hiding some big bad secret, only ever mentioning “him” and how he would “ruin” her. Just a moment while we sign you in to your Goodreads account. All those add up to OK but only for the beginning and Lucas at the end. It starts out a light, cheerful, and fun opposites-meet and meddling-parents story, with better prose than some of Balogh’s earlier works, and then it goes baloth into dark and dubcon, with a alphahole hero who of course, balogj is romance mostly gets over the jerkass but not over the controlling and over the sense that the world revolves around him.

I made it to the wedding but all of the heroine’s anguish and hand wringing about her past and this evil guy who has a hold on her and she Doesn’t Tell just makes me too crazy. LitFlash The heatless you want at the lowest prices.
